"Under the Red Flag" is the posthumous work of Lao She's unfinished autobiographical novel. The manuscript has eleven chapters and one hundred and sixty-four pages. On August 24, 1966, Lao She sank himself in Taiping Lake in Beijing, and this work and his life came to an abrupt end.
