Xu Sanguan Sells Blood

"Xu Sanguan Sells Blood" is a novel written by Yu Hua in 1995. The story takes place in China in the 1950s and 1960s. It tells the blood selling experience of silk factory worker Xu Sanguan. He sold his blood to get married, to heal his seriously ill son, to entertain distinguished guests solemnly, to prevent starvation to death, and to survive. But in the end, it's for love and ridiculous dignity.

"Xu Sanguan Sells Blood" is a vivid portrayal of Chinese life, and Yu Hua explained the absurdity of the whole society in a humorous way. He created a group of little people with a fanatical desire for life, who can stick to their dignity and unite at the critical moment of life and death.
