The story of "Afterlife" took place in Africa more than a hundred years ago. As a child, Elias was abducted by German colonial troops on the coast of East Africa. After being away from home for many years, Elias returned to his village and learned that his parents had long since passed away. His younger sister, Afia, was sent to live under the fence. She was said to be adopted, but in fact she was abused like a slave. Hamza also returned from the battlefield, physically and mentally scarred, with almost nothing—until he met the beautiful and brave Afeya. As these young people live, work and fall in love, their fate is closely linked together. At this moment, the shadow of war looms again, and the relatives who have been reunited through hardships are facing separation again.
